The personal knowledge management movement solved a real problem for individuals: too much information, not enough retrieval. Enterprises have the exact same problem, just with more zeros attached.

When I designed our knowledge management platform, the core insight carried over directly: capture friction has to approach zero, or the system dies within a week of adoption.

The enterprise twist is retrieval-in-context — surfacing the right fragment of institutional memory at the exact moment a decision is being made, not as a separate search step.
